No photographer is as good as the simplest camera

If assessment has taught me one thing…

It is that this course is full of lovely people :)

I love the degree I’m studying for many reasons. Oe of which is that I have met some amazing people and throughout this year I have become closer and closer with my course mates. Seriously :) it makes me really happy. We’re like a little community at times, all helping each other and moaning about the boring lectures we have. We celebrate each others success, comfort one another when things go wrong and just support each other.

I think I’ve made a lot of good friends since coming to Falmouth and this makes me very happy because I know that I’m never alone even though I’m a long way from home.

…… Or maybe people just like me because I always have food.

Strangers project- “The 4%”

Hullo everyone :)

Haven’t written anything in a while so I thought I’d natter on about my strangers project. For this brief I decided that it’d be easier to look at groups of strangers who I have something in common with. After much deliberation (and procrastination) I decided to look at people who give blood and their reasons for doing so as I’ve always thought it was an important thing to do as it helps save lives which is pretty awesome if you ask me.

On Friday I went to give blood and met some absolutely lovely people whilst I was there who let me take their portrait for this project. My portraits were of people who were a variety of ages and who all had different reasons for donating. I really enjoyed meeting them and was surprised by how many were willing to help me :)

(Unfortunately because i’m an absolute fool and didn’t have enough sugar in my system i fainted a little after the shoot, my bad)

At the moment I’m working on ways of merging the photographs together so I can represent a group of people in one single image.

Bit of a confidence shake

My tutor told me that one of my 3 photographs, the one I love and spent a hell of a lot of time editing and making sure was just right, was hideous and shoved it off the table.

I know I should accept criticism and learn from it ad move on but that wasn’t helpful. No feedback was given on how I could improve it and learn from it, they just shoved it off the table and called it hideous and moved on. Not cool if you ask me.

Come and give blood on Friday with me at Mabe Community Centre. Seriously. It’s a ridiculously good thing to do :)
